Guest Scientist
Tinka van Trier, a physician-researcher and PhD candidate at the University Medical Center of Amsterdam, is currently contributing as a guest scientist at the Harding Center for Risk Literacy at the University of Potsdam. Her project, “Communicating Cardiovascular Disease Risk and Treatment Benefits”, targets the vital need for clear patient communication in preventive cardiology. By developing tools specifically designed to clarify the communication of individualized cardiovascular risk assessments to patients, Tinka aims to empower patients, enhance their treatment adherence, and ultimately extend disease-free life expectancy. At the Harding Center, she focuses on bridging the gap between complex clinical data and patient comprehension, ensuring that cardiovascular patients are actively engaged and well-informed about their health decisions. Tinka's dedication to creating patient-centered communication strategies showcases her commitment to advancing preventive cardiology through evidence-based practice.
