Guest Scientist
Clara Schirren is a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and a guest at the Harding Center for Risk Literacy at the University of Potsdam. She is interested in the question of how good decisions can be made, especially in a complex and uncertain world. She is one of the executive researchers on the VisRisk project funded by the Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung [German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment] to improve the communication of complex evidence in risk assessments to the general public, and in the project Drohnenrisiken verstehen [understanding drone risks], which is funded by the Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur [Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure]. In addition to this, she has developed a statistical model that theoretically assesses the usefulness of tests in medical diagnosis.
